Interview w/Hayley Derryberry

Hayley Derryberry is an actress based out of Los Angeles, California.  She got her start in acting while growing up in Tennessee.  From there she moved to New Mexico to cut her acting teeth performing in student films and 48-hour film festival films.  After making the move to Los Angeles Hayley and her husband Paul J Porter have written and produced feature films and film shorts such as Rabid Love and Making TimeCurrently they are writing a work place dramedy about working the Oktoberfest at the Alpine Village in Torrance, California.

Jamie had a chance to interview Hayley Saturday, May 30th.  Hayley shared that sci-fi is her favorite genre of TV and film and that her dream role would be to play Starbuck on Battle Star Galactica.  She spoke about growing up in Tennessee and getting her start in acting by doing plays for her church.  They also talked about her short-lived roles on ABC’s Killer Women and Fox’s Enlisted.

Jamie couldn’t end the interview without talking with Hayley about her biggest role to date, Simone in last year’s indie cult hit Frank.  In Frank Hayley plays a representative for the SXSW festival that books the band Soronprfbs.  The band is fronted by Frank (Michael Fassbender) and Clara (Maggie Gyllenhaal).  In the movie she has to wrangle the band and be their handler as they are in the mist of self-destruction.  Hayley shared her experience on set and how she prepared for the role.

Finally Hayley ended the interview by giving her advice to those of you out there who looking to break into entertainment industry.  Her formula consists of starting out in a small market, learning to do other things besides acting, and have other interest so you can be a well-rounded person.
