Ray Santiago Interview
Jamie and Shawn had the distinct pleasure to speak with Ray Santiago about his role on Ash Vs The Evil Dead, his acting career, and his future plans. Besides Ray’s breakout role as Pablo on Starz’s Ash Vs The Evil Dead, he has previously acted in the films Girlfight (with Michelle Rodriguez) and Meet the Fockers, and has appeared on such TV shows as My Name is Earl, Dexter, Raising Hope, and many more.
Ray Santiago was born on June 15, 1985 and is originally from the Bronx, New York. From an early age, Ray knew that he enjoyed acting and with the support of his family began taking the subway to auditions. After his acting career began to take off, he moved to California, and for the last decade has been working hard to hone his craft while in search of a role that would take his career to the next level.
A lifelong horror fan, Ray auditioned for the role of Pablo, and after meeting with Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell, won the role of Ashley Williams’ faithful sidekick. Although Ray has a varied acting career, he sees Pablo’s journey as Ash’s heroic and funny sidekick parallel his own journey to grow as an actor.
If you enjoyed Ray Santiago as Pablo in Ash Vs the Evil Dead, you can see him in an upcoming horror film Trash Fire, which will be shown at Sundance Film Festival. He will also be in an episode of the TV show Shiny Baby Goats.
Ray is currently planning some of his own creative projects as he prepares to start shooting the second season of Ash Vs The Evil Dead.
Ray will be the biggest role model for the lgbt horror community within the next 2 years.
Really, what make you say that Nate? I find it interesting as his character is not LGBT. I’d like to know your thoughts on why because it is something that has not crossed my mind.
Because he is an up and coming gay actor, and the lgbt horror community is huge, and we now have an excellent and wonderfully talented person as a representative in one of the greatest horror stories of all time.
